Crowntainer Beer Cans

The most unique cone top design was the crowntainer. It was patented in 1940 by the Crown Cork and Seal Company. It was their second cone top design.
This compact cone top had many packaging advantages due to it's height. However, beer drinkers might not have liked it as much as the breweries.
It was produced with different backgrounds. Pictured here on the right is a white enamel background. Pictured on the left is the more common silver metallic background.
The crowntainer cone top was used by over 70 breweries and was one of only two designs to survive World War II. It was produced through the mid-1950's.
There's many we'd like to add to our collection.
